On the 2nd (Korean time), KIA started its first spring training at the Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, Arizona, USA.

The team’s attention was naturally focused on the new foreign pitchers, Anderson and Medina. The two paired up to practice catch. The two players focused on recovering their condition by adjusting the distance for about 30 minutes from short distance to long toss.

It was a catch ball thrown without force, but as a fireball duo with a distance of over 150 km, the ball of the two had heavy power and the ball was stable.

Anderson, signed by KIA for a full $1 million, is a pitcher who uses a variety of skills, including four-seam and two-seam, slider, curve, and changeup, radiating from a sturdy physique measuring 193 cm and weighing 102 kg. He went 3-5 with a 5.84 earned run average in 63 career major league appearances. His minor league performance was 24-17 with 2 saves and 8 holds in 113 games with a 3.72 earned run average.

Medina, who signed a contract for $636,000, is 185cm tall and weighs 84kg, and has a four-seam, sinker, slider, curve, and changeup that can run in the early 150km. He went 1-1 with a 5.35 earned run average in 19 appearances over three years in the major leagues. His minor league record was 36 wins, 33 losses, 2 saves, 2 holds, and an ERA of 3.83 in 135 games.
