Korean shooting hopeful Shim Eun-ji (23, Hwaseong City Hall) claimed gold in the women’s 25 meter pistol event on the first day of the 2023 Hanwha Chairman’s Cup National Shooting Championships.
Shim qualified for the final of the 25-meter pistol 스포츠토토 event with a score of 584 on Sunday at the Changwon Shooting Range, where she defeated teammate Kim Sun-ah 43-35 to claim the gold medal.
Shim has been selected to represent South Korea at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games. She had a stellar performance in the tournament leading up to the Asian Games.
Her hard work and passion for the sport has paid off. She also took first place in the 25 meter pistol at the 6th Daegu Mayor’s Cup National Shooting Competition.
“During my preparation, I had more bad days than good days. My confidence dropped a lot. It’s good that today’s competition gave me a chance to believe in myself once again.”
“I will continue to train and compete harder in preparation for the upcoming 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games,” he concluded.
The Hanwha Chairman’s Cup was founded in 2008 by Hanwha Group Chairman Kim Seung-yeon, who is the honorary chairman of the Korean Shooting Federation, to contribute to the development of Korean shooting and sports.
This year’s event was particularly meaningful. All 3,000 Korean shooters, including those with disabilities, participated. It was also the first event to be held after the national team was formed for the Hangzhou Asian Games.
It was also the first event to apply the new International Finals Rules, which were changed last May. It was the first domestic event to use electronic targets, a method used in international shooting competitions since its inception, and applied changed rules such as allowing cheering in the stadium.
It is also the last national championship before the 2023 ISSF Baku World Championships, where qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics is at stake. It is a very important competition to check the performance of national athletes and has a high level of tension.
