Wrestling, often labeled as an “unpopular sport” because of the popularity of soccer, baseball, and other major sports, is trying to change that. The goal is to lower the barrier to entry for wrestling and transform it into a lifestyle sport.
The Korea Wrestling Association announced on Friday that it held the ‘2023 Seoul Cup National Living Sports Wrestling Competition’ at Tukseom Hangang Park in Seoul on Nov. 21.
It was the first wrestling festival in Korea. For the first time, the tournament was held on an outdoor stage with mats instead of indoors. In order to expose more people to wrestling, the venue was chosen to be Hangang Park, which has a high foot traffic.
In addition to the elementary 토토사이트 wrestleband and freestyle events, there was a friendly match between Korea and France. There were also a number of interactive events, including an autograph session with an Olympic gold medalist and a wrestling challenge.
The event was open to the public with no admission fee and attracted over 500 spectators.
In the final match of the day, South Korea defeated France 2-1. Yang Yang-chul and Noh Young-hoon defeated their opponents in the men’s Greco-Roman 72kg and 77kg categories, respectively, while Jeong Young-woo lost to Tikkan Galustian in the 67kg category.
Olympic gold medalists Yoo In Tak, Han Myung Woo, and Park Jang Soon, as well as Netflix’s “Physical:100” cast members Nam Kyung Jin and Jang Eun Sil, attended the event.
