Last year’s Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios (33rd, Australia) has withdrawn from this year’s tournament due to a wrist injury.
“Kyrgios has withdrawn after tearing ligaments in his wrist in preparation for Wimbledon,” the BBC reported on Wednesday.
Kyrgios, who finished runner-up to Novak Djokovic 먹튀검증 (2nd-Serbia) in last year’s Wimbledon men’s singles final, has been plagued by knee injuries this year and has only played one tournament. He also missed the Australian Open and French Open.
Kyrgios has focused on getting back into shape for Wimbledon and was seeded 30th. His first round opponent was David Goffin (123rd – Belgium). But just before his first match, he suffered another
another injury.
“I’m really sad to say that I have to withdraw from Wimbledon this year,” Kyrgios wrote on social media, adding, “After my (knee) surgery, I did everything I could to be ready to play and get back on the court. I recently had a pain in my wrist, so as a precaution I had it checked out and it was found to be a torn ligament,” she wrote.
“I’ve tried everything to play, but I’m disappointed that I can’t control the injury I sustained before the start of the tournament,” he added.
Wimbledon posted on social media, “We are sorry to hear the news about Kyrgios. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on court next year.”
