KT Wiz William Cuevas (33), who returned to the KBO after a year and two months, did not last five innings in his comeback game.

Cuevas started against the Samsung Lions of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Katie Wiz Park in Suwon on Sunday, giving up three runs 메이저사이트 on five hits with one walk and three strikeouts in 4⅔ innings.

Cuevas played for KT from 2019 to 2022, most notably in 2022, when he pitched well in the tiebreaker game for first place in the regular season and in the Korean Series, helping the team win its first overall title.

However, in 2022, he suffered an elbow injury and left the team after only two games.

Cuevas, who has since played in the Mexican League and Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, recently donned a KT uniform again as a replacement for Bo Schuler.

The batters backed Cuevas up in the bottom of the first, scoring the first run.

In the second, Cuevas got Kang Min-ho to fly out to center and Lee Jae-hyun to strike out, and two batters later, he walked Kim Jae-sung to load the bases before getting Kim Dong-yeop to fly out to left field.

In the third inning, Cuevas gave up a leadoff single to Kim Ji-chan, but induced a grounder to first base to end the inning. In the fourth, he struck out the Samsung cleanup trio of Pirela, Kang Min-ho, and Lee Jae-hyun.

Cuevas gave up a leadoff double to Kim Jae-sung. He got Kim Dong-yeop to ground out to shortstop and Ryu Seung-min to ground out to first base, but gave up a single to Kim Young-woong to tie the game at 1-1.

Cuevas then gave up a stolen base to Kim Young-woong and a walk to Kim Ji-chan to put runners on first and second, and eventually gave up a single to Kim Hyun-joon. The KT bench eventually decided to replace Cuevas.

The new pitcher, Son Dong-hyun, hit an RBI single off Pirela to extend Cuevas’ lead to three runs. Son later worked around a bases-loaded walk but did not give up any more runs.

Cuevas, who was looking for a comeback victory, was unable to get more than one out and ended up losing the game.
