Daegu Bulojoong Jo Joo-hyun (Noble Fencing Club) represented Daegu at the 52nd National Youth Sports Games in the girls’ U16 fencing flechette event and won a bronze medal.

Jo finished third in the event at Dongcheon 메이저놀이터 Gymnasium in Ulsan, South Korea, on March 21. He defeated Gwangju 15-0 in the round of 16 and Gyeonggi 11-10 in the quarterfinals. However, she lost 9-15 to Seoul in the quarterfinals and did not advance to the final. Seoul’s Lee Da-yoon won the gold medal and Jeonnam’s Kim Seung-joo took the silver.

According to Noble Spending Club coach Seo Ye-kyung, Cho Joo-hyun has a promising future. He has finished as runner-up in the last 51 tournaments, and took first place in last year’s and this year’s Presidential Fencing Championships.

“I finished second in last year’s tournament, so I really wanted to win this year’s tournament, but I was disappointed to finish third,” Cho said, adding, “There are still many tournaments left this year. I want to make more efforts and leave good results.”

Meanwhile, the official schedule of the National Youth Games begins on the 27th, but some sports, including fencing, taekwondo, and gymnastics, have been competing since the 20th. Fencing began with individual competitions on the 21st and will conclude with the team finals on the 24th.
